“What Do You Shoot?”

Filed under: Business of photography — Posted by Comments (0)

I often find that people are confused about photography as a profession (and become even more confused when we say that we don’t do weddings!).

The system of photography types and disciplines is nebulous, and is often a mystery to the photographers themselves. In part, it comes from not wanting to limit and label ourselves. It’s like, to get rid of a high school nickname you had to leave for college. Once you call yourself a product guy, you may have to leave the area to rebrand yourself as a portrait guy.

No doubt I missed a few types, but here’s an approximate pyramid of how it works:

Here at AR Studio we do people, product, and architectural photography.
For advertising, corporate and editorial uses.
Commercial photography all the way.

Step Outside: Outdoor Portraits

Filed under: Corporate,People photography,Portfolio,Portrait photography — Tags: , — Posted by Comments (0)

Old Town is our favorite for corporate portraiture. Distillery District is, of course, fantastic but there are other less crowded spots.

If you want to have an outdoor portrait done, it’s best to wait for the temperatures to drop. May-June and late August to mid October are the best times to work outdoors in this climate.
